2018 CAREER EMS SERVICE
Unity Point-Marshalltown Area
Ambulance Service
On July 19, 2018, an F3 hit Marshalltown making it
necessary to evacuate their home base of UnityPoint Marshalltown
while still responding to 911s. Over 800 structures were damaged
or destroyed. MAAS staff immediately reported to the hospital
and got to work. By 22:00, the hospital was completely
evacuated. The ER was moved to another location the next
morning, and eight days later moved back to the main structure.
These selfless providers deserve to receive EMS Career Service
of the Year.
