2021 EMS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR
Sandy Neyen
Accomplished professional with 30 plus years of medical
experience, 26 years of EMS service, and with 24 years serving
as a paramedic.
It is my honor to nominate Sandy Neyen as the Instructor of
the year. Sandy is passionate and committed EMS educator with 26
years of experience in the classroom. I believe it takes a
driven, humble and accomplished EMS provider to make an
excellent EMS instructor. Sandy Neyen is a unique individual
whose love of emergency medicine can be seen within each of her
successful students from class to clinical to their first EMS
career position. When you can see the passion of one person grow
into someone else through a lecture and clinical setting, you
know you have a quality instructor. Sandy also serves as the
clinical Coordinator. She was instrumental in the college’s
receipt of CAAHEP accreditation for its paramedic program and
has helped shape and mold the program to the success it is
today. Sandy willingly pours hours of her personal time each
year into the program to ensure each student is a success both
at the NREMT and in their career. Sandy is a NAEMSE 2
instructor, along with teaching BLS ACLS, PALS, AMLS and PHTLS.
Though she has battled rounds of illness over the past years
that have landed her in the ICU’s. Both locally and regionally,
she continues to selflessly dedicate herself to the quality of
EMS. When you hear Sandy’s name--- you mean something in
education. In conclusion, I would like to confirm that even
without the honor of this award, the community of EMS providers
that have graduated from NICC and have had the privilege of
learning from Sandy Neyen are among those fortunate enough to
have shared in her passion and dedication to educating
compassionate and knowledgeable EMTs and Paramedics. She truly
is a hero in EMS.
