Job Summary
Under general Direction of the EMS Director, Paramedics respond to emergency and
non-emergency calls to provide advanced, efficient and immediate care to the
sick, critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to an appropriate
facility or destination. The Paramedic must observe all Panora EMS rules and
regulations, policies and procedures. The Paramedic must observe traffic
ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School education, or equivalent
- Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa
driver’s license
- 911 prehospital experience and interfacility
experience (preferred)
- Iowa EMS certification, BLS, ACLS, and PALS
Essential Functions
- Functions in uncommon and stressful
situations;
- Has a basic understanding of stress response
and methods to ensure personal well-being;
- Has an understanding of body substance
isolation;
- Understands basic medical-legal principles;
- Functions within the scope of care as
defined by state and department protocols;
- Lifting the stretcher, patient and equipment
(be able to lift and carry 125 pounds);
- Makes split second decisions, works as a
team and gives direction to lower levels of care;
- Continuing emergency medical care while
enroute to the medical facility;
- Constantly assesses the patient enroute to
the emergency facility, administers additional care as indicated or directed
by medical control;
- Reports verbally and in writing, their
observation and emergency medical care of the patient at the emergency scene
and in transit, to the receiving medical facility staff for purposes of
records and diagnostics;
- Upon request provides assistance to the
contracted medical facility.

washed and kept in a neat orderly condition
- In accordance with local, state or federal
regulations, decontaminates the interior of the vehicle after transport of
patient with contagious infection or hazardous materials exposure
- Determines that vehicle is in proper
mechanical condition by checking items required by service management.
Maintains familiarity with specialized equipment used by the service
- Attends continuing education and refresher
training programs as needed or required
- Maintains daily station/chore duties as
required
- Must have high ethical standards
Working Conditions
Position is focused on adapting quickly in stressful situations. Position will
involve being exposed to physical elements. Requires good vision, with good
depth and field of vision. Communication skills (hearing, talking, instructing)
are essential requirements of the positions. Clerical, forms, numerical, and
spatial perceptions are important aptitudes.

Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance in Waukon, Iowa has the following opening:
Paramedic or Paramedic Student (EMT/AEMT): .9 FTE – Rotates Days, Nights, and
Peak Volume Shifts. 12 or 24 hour shifts available based on preference. Position
is eligible for IPERS, shift differential (evening, night, weekend),
incentivized shift opportunities, uniforms, paid CEH education attendance, and
benefit packages included based on desired FTE.
Description
Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service currently has one full-time
Paramedic position available, VMH EMS Paramedics are based in the Emergency
Department, providing pre-hospital 911 response to a large service area,
Paramedic Intercepts with outlying services, and Inter-facility transports. Our
Paramedics provide support facility-wide including respiratory therapy duties
and assistance on the medical floor. VMH EMS responds to approximately 1,000
requests for service annually. Qualifications include current Iowa Paramedic
licensure and BLS or EMT/AEMT licensure with proof of enrollment in a paramedic
program, and a valid driver’s license. Additional training may be required upon
hire and will be provided by our team of clinical educators. Veterans Memorial
Hospital Ambulance Service is committed to sustaining relevance according to
current EMS standards by possessing up-to-date equipment and by maintaining
modern educational standards. Monthly formal EMS education credits are provided

Kossuth County EMS is seeking a full-time paramedic to join our team. KCEMS is a
department of Kossuth County and responds to approximately 1,400 calls per year,
servicing all communities in Kossuth County. KCEMS has a full-time/volunteer
ambulance service that provides 911, mutual aid, intercepts, and transfer
services for Kossuth Regional Health Center. Our current full-time staff
consists of Paramedics, AEMTs, and EMTs. Our shifts are currently 2 days one
week and 3 days the next week in a two-week period.

and manage administrative, financial and operational activities for the
Emergency Medical Service Department, according to the policies and procedures
